Where we work on the LM6000

The six places on the LM6000 where most of our work happens, numbered as in the drawing at the top of the page.

  1. 01VBV. The variable bleed valves between the LP and HP compressor dump air at low power to keep the LPC out of stall. We check the actuators, the position feedback and the schedule in the software.
  2. 02VSV system. HPC variable stators, and the inlet guide vanes on models that have them, stroked end to end with the feedback compared on both sides.
  3. 03T48 thermocouples. LP turbine inlet temperature, the limit the control works against. Every thermocouple and the harness checked, and the spread looked at, not only the average.
  4. 04Speed and overspeed. XN2 (LP rotor) and XN25 (HP rotor) pickups: gap, signal and wiring, and the overspeed trip tested through the protection system.
  5. 05Fuel and DLE. Gas metering valves, DLE staging and SAC water injection. Valve replacement, calibration and the start-up that follows.
  6. 06Control system. Woodward MicroNet and MicroNet Plus, including NetCon migrations. GAP and HMI changes, datalogging, water wash and turning gear sequences.

What we do on the LM6000

By engineers who have done it before. Every job comes with a short daily report and paperwork you can use.

Commissioning & start-up

New units and the start-up after a gas generator exchange, including mapping on the LM6000 PF.

Annual and L1 inspections

The controls and instrumentation scope of annual, semi-annual and L1 inspections, on FPSOs and onshore. Calibration sheets and a service report before we leave.

Inspection supervision

Your inspection crew, our engineer on the controls and instrumentation side: supervising, testing and signing off.

Control upgrades

NetCon to MicroNet Plus migrations, HMI replacement and the commissioning that goes with it.

Troubleshooting

Trips, failed starts, fuel valve faults, temperature spread. We read the datalogs first and find the cause.

Control technical advisor

On multi-unit projects: an engineer who knows the control system inside out, next to the installation contractor.

Questions we get

Do you work for the OEM or for the operator?

Both. Much of our LM6000 work is for OEMs, packagers and service providers, as their field engineer. We also work directly for operators and owners. Where an OEM service contract is in place, we work alongside the OEM team, not around it.

Woodward or GE controls?

Both. We are experts on Woodward and GE control systems. Most LM6000 packages we work on run Woodward MicroNet or MicroNet Plus; GE Mark VI and Mark VIe are just as familiar.

Do you supply parts?

Hard-to-find and obsolete control and instrumentation parts for LM6000 packages, sourced through our supplier network, checked for compatibility, installed and tested on site.

How fast can you get an engineer to site?

Send the start date, location and scope and you get availability and an estimate the same working day. Offshore certificates (OPITO BOSIET/FOET, MIST, offshore medical) are kept current, so paperwork is not what holds you up.

Can you send more than one engineer?

Yes. For campaigns or several units at once we add contractors from our own network, under our agreement, our insurance and our reporting. How resource supply works.

LM6000 outage, exchange or start-up coming up?

Send the start date, estimated duration, scope, systems on site and location. You get availability and an estimate the same working day.
