Telic Engineering / Engines / LM2500

LM2500 controls and field service. Offshore is our normal.

Commissioning, inspections, troubleshooting and DLE mapping on the LM2500, LM2500+ and LM2500+G4, SAC and DLE, on Woodward and GE control systems. Most of it offshore, on platforms and FPSOs.

Sheet 01

Where we work on the LM2500

The six places on the LM2500 where most of our work happens, numbered as in the drawing at the top of the page.

  1. 01VSV system. The VSV schedule keeps the compressor out of stall. We stroke the actuators end to end, check the feedback on both sides and compare the schedule with the control software, not with last year's report.
  2. 02T48/T54 thermocouples. Power turbine inlet temperature, T48 or T54 depending on the model, is the limit that holds the engine back or trips it. Every thermocouple and the harness get checked, and we look at the spread, not only the average.
  3. 03Vibration. Accelerometers and charge amplifiers on the compressor and turbine frames. We test the whole monitoring chain with charge injection; the calculator we use for that is on our Tools page.
  4. 04Speed and overspeed. NGG and NPT pickups: gap, signal on crank, wiring. The overspeed trip is tested through the protection system, not assumed.
  5. 05Fuel metering. Gas, liquid and dual fuel, SAC and DLE. Valve calibration, stroke checks, fuel transfer tuning and water injection for NOx.
  6. 06Control system. Woodward MicroNet, MicroNet Plus, NetCon and Atlas, GE Mark VI and Mark VIe. Logic and sequence changes, GAP and HMI updates, datalogs read and explained.

What we do on the LM2500

By engineers who have done it before. Every job comes with a short daily report and paperwork you can use.

Commissioning & start-up

New packages and control upgrades: loop checks, functional tests, first fire and load tests. Also the start-up after a gas generator exchange.

4k and 8k inspections

The controls and instrumentation scope of 4k, 8k and annual inspections, including safety-critical instrumentation. Calibration sheets and a service report before we leave.

Troubleshooting

Trips, failed starts, fuel transfer problems, T48/T54 spread, VSV faults. We read the datalogs first and find the cause, rather than swapping parts until it works.

DLE mapping

Mapping and combustion optimisation on LM2500 DLE, single and dual fuel, by our own experienced mapping engineers.

Control upgrades

NetCon to MicroNet and MicroNet Plus upgrades, commissioned on a running asset within the shutdown window.

Operations support

Longer campaigns of maintenance and operations support, also on FPSOs with several units running.

Questions we get

Do you work for the OEM or for the operator?

Both. Much of our LM2500 work is for OEMs, packagers and service providers, as their field engineer. We also work directly for operators and owners. Where an OEM service contract is in place, we work alongside the OEM team, not around it.

Woodward or GE controls?

Both. We are experts on Woodward and GE control systems. On the LM2500 that means MicroNet, MicroNet Plus, NetCon and Atlas as well as Mark VI and Mark VIe.

Do you do DLE mapping on the LM2500?

Yes, with our own experienced mapping engineers: mapping after an engine exchange, combustion optimisation and dual-fuel mapping, offshore and onshore.

Do you supply parts?

Hard-to-find and obsolete control and instrumentation parts for LM2500 packages, sourced through our supplier network, checked for compatibility, installed and tested on site.

How fast can you get an engineer to site?

Send the start date, location and scope and you get availability and an estimate the same working day. Offshore certificates (OPITO BOSIET/FOET, MIST, offshore medical) are kept current, so paperwork is not what holds you up.

Can you send more than one engineer?

Yes. For campaigns or several units at once we add contractors from our own network, under our agreement, our insurance and our reporting. How resource supply works.

LM2500 inspection, start-up, or a trip nobody can explain?

Send the start date, estimated duration, scope, systems on site and location. You get availability and an estimate the same working day.
